Curtis has been roofing for more than twenty years, and he knows fewer than three people around here who’ve been at it longer. He started Rolle’s Home Improvements as a registered North Dakota LLC in 2016, and it’s run out of 1066 Sheyenne St in West Fargo.
The company does a little of everything. His own description is “from roofs to floors and everything in between.” Roofing is the heart of it: new construction for local builders, tear-offs on houses that have been reroofed twice already, storm repairs, and one commercial building he called “this beast.”
After a hailstorm Curtis will do fifteen or more inspections in a day, and he tells people the truth about what he finds. Some roofs are damaged and some come through fine. Customers say he’s fair on price and will match a competitor’s quote. When one crew member was rude to a homeowner, Curtis took him off the job.
He also photographs a lot of finished roofs from a drone and posts them with a line or two. Those posts are where most of this website came from.
Before you hire anyone
Every spring Curtis posts the same advice, whoever you end up hiring. He signs it off with “Happy hunting.”
- Vet your contractors. Hire people with the knowledge and skill to take care of you.
- Get more than one estimate on any work being done.
- Make sure you have a contract.
- Check that they have the documentation and credentials to do the work.
- Don't be pressured by a fancy sales pitch.
- Make sure the person you hire will be on site managing your project.
